Enormous oil spill in Bangladesh's Sundarbans

The Sundarbans is the world largest mangrove forest, which covers 26,000 square km in India and Bangladesh, is also the habitat of famous Royal Bengal Tigers.

An oil tanker carrying 358,000 liters (almost 100,000 gallons) of furnace oil sank in the Shela river on December 7, spilling oil over more than 60 kilometers (about 37 miles) of the Sundarbans. Located on in southwest Bangladesh, the Sundarbans is the largest single block of tidal mangrove forest in the world, covering approximately 10,000 square kilometers (3,900 square miles), of which 60 percent is in Bangladesh. The Sundarbans, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is also one of the largest reserves for the Bengal tiger, and provides sanctuary to many other species.

Experts estimated a ৳1,000,000,000 loss from the sinking of the oil-tanker. The residents of surrounding areas of Sundarbans are at a health risk after the environment and fauna disaster.

The government of Bangladesh called the residents to collect and sell the oil to the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation. Consequently, the local oil collectors would face ultimate health risks and various skin diseases, including hair fallout if a furnace oil mixed with water contacts face or hair.

Environmentalists warned the event as an ecological "catastrophe" as the event occurred at a protected Sundarbans mangrove area, home to rare Irrawaddy and Ganges dolphins.Experts expressed their concerns saying that due to the oil spill, normal life of the aquatic organisms of Sundarbans will be hampered as animals like dolphins come above the water to take a breath. Wildlife near the river have a life risk because they couldn’t breathe due to the smell of oil. Some images published indicates the disaster killed some animals.

At least 200 hired workers in nearly 100 engine and country boats have started a campaign to collect the oil from rivers and channels, a local resident told PTI over phone. The workers were loading the boats with the oil they were collecting manually using the traditional equipment and depositing those in tanks in nearby ferry terminals.

The authorities earlier had asked local people to collect the furnace oil using fishing nets, sponges or any other manual means and sell it to the state-run Padma Oil Company.
Seven members of the sunken tanker’s crew managed to swim ashore, but their captain Mokhlesur Rahman was missing till Friday evening. The authorities have filed a lawsuit against the owners of both ships.

Officials said oil spill from the sunken tanker affected seven young saltwater crocodiles at Karamjal Wildlife Reproduction Centre and they were concerned about the fate of dolphins in the region it is their natural abode.

Sundarban is our national heritage we should stand together for supporting it.

Language problem will be removed in future

I am a Bangladeshi engineer. And in my current company i have to work with Japanese engineers where language is a common factor. I usually use google translator for communicating over skype. However it is a time-consuming process. I was hoping for something very automatic but could not find that is suitable for me. Then i got one news from Skype and Microsoft which i am sharing here.

Imagine saying something on Skype and then hearing it instantly translated into the language of your choice.Microsoft is about to release software that translates your speech in real time. The software will be built into the latest version of Skype, Microsoft’s video calling software. So, for example, if you were to cold call someone in the Netherlands, Skype will repeat what you’ve said in Dutch the moment you’ve finished speaking, and vice versa. It’s as close as most of us will ever get to having our own personal translator, albeit with a slightly robotic voice.

Parent company Microsoft unveiled the new technology at the Code technology conference, where Skype vice president Gurdeep Pall made small talk in English with a German-speaking Skype manager in Europe. After saying a sentence in English, an automated voice translated his words into German. German-speaking members of the audience were said to have thought the translation was “not so good” but generally understood the essence of it.

Microsoft Research started its “machine translation” group 15 years ago and has since been building a “neural network” that combines speech recognition, machine translation and speech synthesis.

Strange and scary pictures by Google Street View

Search engine Google's Street View technology from around the world took many pictures of curious, uncertain place, person or thing. Mashable has published a magazine with the best 20 strange pictures taken from Google Street View. And yes, these pictures are taken around the world and there is no techniques of camera.

Ok, This can be a only toy. However this toy is so alive looking that no one was able to believe about this toy. Who knows, actually this toy is an alien.

This image's object is not clear. One man who is not interested to give his personal information told that this object is going for heaven. One who critisize will tell that this is camera technique.

who will see this picture will be afraid. Because it seems like there are deadbodies in the dustbin. However those are the mannequins of shop.

This artistic picture of a face looks nice to capture but later most people complained that they saw this face in their dreams often and scared.

When this picture was published Google make this picture unclear so most people think this picture is about the soul of Nancy. She was standing at the balcony with unorganized hair.

this picture is about the destroyed city Hashima, Japan. For 40 years there is no human beings living. At 1970, this city was full of natural things and arounf 5000 people were living there. Now JAPAN government do not allow tourists to visit there.

Seagulls created traffic jam. This amazing picture got so many likes from people.

bKash and mobile banking in Bangladesh

From ancient times, human life has been proceeded by exchanging goods or currency. For taking money from one place to another people tried so many techniques or process. At 18th century, people established banking system. Starting from here, people entrust their money, get the funds, the profit and arrange bank loans.

Now-a-days people move to another state, or move to town and family members stay at village because of work. So, reach out to family, money becomes a challenge to many.

Mobile banking has become one great factor for people because of instant service. Local bank of Bangladesh named "BRAC" has launched mone service named "bKash" for exchanging money with moble. For this service one mobile number is necessary only. If one person do not have mobile then also he/she can get this service.

Example:
Mr. XXX does not have "bKash" account or mobile number but Mr. YYY wants o send money to Mr. XXX. Then Mr. YYY can send money to any agent of bKash of Mr. XXX's area and Mr. XXX can be varified and got money.

Mobile banking is also available with Bank. Debit or credit of money both are possible with this service.

Difference between bKash and mobile banking:

Bank usually judge the address because of the instruction of bank authority. If the transaction looks fishy or some abnormality is there then that account will be checked. However, bKash does not this kind of judging service. One can check agent information but who is taking money or sending money can not be checked. So, many incidents were related with this service.

Incident 1:

Mr. ZZZ was kidnapped and asked 1 lac tk for releasing him. Kidnapper used this bKash service for  gettng money. Because kidnapper collected money from different agents and there is no service for agent to check their information.

Incident 2:

Car of Mr. AAA was stolen from market. And thieves cntacted him and asked for money. They used this bKash service to get money  and also did not return his car.

Now-a-days kidnappers, thieves asked money to send by bKash. This service should be more strict about checking information. Mobile banking is really a fast service in this rapid growth of economy. Any service can be obstacles for this system. So banks should be more carful before lauching anything.
